on friday came as a shock to residents here following a first attack she was removed to the toronto welles- ley hospital where she suffered a second heart seizure she is survived by her parents mr and reeve morley stated that a lack of suitable industrial and commercial pro perties posed a serious problem for his village industry re quires considerable land and we havent got it he said deputyreeve sherman scott a resident of the west rouge informed the ratepayers that following any proposed ineor- a meeting for north pickering ratepayers in the claremont community hail wednesday oct 23rd at s strictly on the fence he said rouge ratepay bid for 27000 a bid by the west rouge ki wanis club to erect a 27000 community centre in their area of pickering township received an almost unanimous vote of confidence at a public meeting on thursday evening of last week it will be necessary to raise approximately 20000 by cash donations and public pled ges a 5000 government grant will be available in addition to 2000 from the kiwanis clubs funds mr james lynn president of the west rouge kiwanis club headed the discussion he point ed out that there was a great need in the area for such a centre he noted however that the service club desired the support of the entire commun ity in order to promote the pro ject an existing barn will be renovated chairman of the pic kering twp recreation com mute the president mrs h barc lay was in charge the secre- tary read the minutes of the previous meeting and also the financial report mrs burrows card convener gave the card report mrs brad- shaw read the resolution the meeting was then turned over to the program convener mrs geo gray who gave a very in teresting paper on historical re search roll call was answered by a verse from an autograph album noted that it might be possible to convert a portion of the base ment into municipal offices in the advent of future incorpora tion the public meeting followed a five man delegation that at tended pickering twp council recently expressing opposition to the proposed project at that time the parties stated that there was little or no need for a community centre in their area as recreational matches successful events duncan entertained their fam ilies and their relatives to a thanksgiving dinner on mon day those present were mrs a mckay and mr w mckay of toronto also mr and mis a trewatha of maikham mr and mrs d duncan of brooklin mr and mrs g jouncan and family of maikham mr and mrs roy carter were guests of mr and mrs fred carter to a thanksgiving dinner on the holiday mr and mrs l pegg enter tained their families to a good oldfashioned dinner on sunday mr and mrs h ridge of to ronto were holiday visitors at the hutchings home mr and mrs yetta and family of willowdale spent the week end with mr and mrs w sine- tham mr and mrs r hamilton had dinner on sunday with mr and mrs t robinson of locust hill pleased to hear that little ka- thy michell is able to be at home again and is feeling much belter the ladies aid held their meeting at the home of mrs m draper on wednesday evening of last week the devotional part of the meeting was in charge of mrs c anthony who had ar ranged a most interesting pro gram mrs w turner gave a most interesting paper on what we have to be ttiankful for this paper was an inspiration to all who heard it and made one realize how fortunate we are to j live in a free country at the conclusion of the meeting the hostess mrs a michell and mrs mailes served a most de licious lunch a very pleasant surprise in the form of a birthday party took place at the home of mr and mrs h hornshaw in honor of mr roy carter whose birth day was on saturday last there were about twenty members of the immediate family present needless to say a good time was enjoyed by all the beautiful decorations of flowers and fruit with which the church was decorated on sun day in honor of thanksgiving was the work of the young peo ple under the capable leadership of mr and mrs w binsted as a great deal of work was in volved in this a special vote of thanks is extended to those re sponsible and they can be as sured that the effort was appre ciated by those attending the services on sunday the young people will meet in the church on friday evening of this week at 8 oclock miss helen white spent the weekend at the home of her par ents mr and mrs a white mrs a cook and family and mr and mrs elkin of agin court called on mr and mrs r hamilton on sunday mr and mrs w binsted were sunday evening callers at the hutchings home mr and mrs w layie of to ronto spent sunday with mr and mrs c postill also miss dianne postill was at the home of her parents for the weekend miss mary lehman spent sun day with miss shirley postill next sunday evening the in her 94th year had been in failing health since 1942 born at cherrywood picker ing township on october 4 1861 the deceased lived in oshaw from 1910 until 1930 and spent the greater part of the remain der of her life in the audley district she was a member o st francis de sales roman ca tholic church pickering predeceased by her husband on dee 16 1921 she leaves three daughters mrs joseph jordan josephine of oshawa mrs john f scollard ella of brantford and mrs a h cob- ham mary of toronto and one son james of detroit also surviving are a sister mrs louise windsor a bro ther joseph
