special awards among them scout bud henderson as best scout in the troop and cub frank plummer as best cub young lloyd mowder received a prize for being top salesman in the recent sale of cards by the boys the grey six led by sr sixer john wylie won the award for leading group each of the boys received scout money purses mr tom phillips and his faithful guitar were once again called upon to make music the boys really sang out and the dads did pretty well too sixteen mothers turn ed out to lend a hand with the preparing serving and of course the inevitable washing up the ladies all volunteered and did a wonderful job saturdays bake sale held by ballantrae wa in stouffville arena was a great success al most forty dollars was raised the variety and quantity of baked goods was a pleasure to see thanks to all who so gen erously donated to make the sale so successful there was a slight accident at the school last week billy storry came out second best in an encounter with a baseball bat it took several stitches to close up a very nasty cut on his ear battle scarred but happy billy is back at school showing off his neatly sewn ear hem stitched no less any of you who havent been up the manor farm by artchie ritchie was praised we appreciate the way mr and mrs wilde treat the resi dents at york manor said reeve william clark chairman of the commission they re spect the atmosphere of a home not an institution religious services are conduc ted each sunday afternoon at york manor ministers from newmarket and aurora take their turn in holding these ser vices at present there are 34 previous year the 1957 rate is s214 residents in receipt of pension and having no other means of income receive five dollars per month as pocket money i feel the farm is an asset to york manor said mr clark we have a lot of people going to the countys home for the aged with rural backgrounds they like that rural atmosphere that the farm gives york manor they can go into the fields and barn as they did on their own farms and it makes them feel more at homd i am a strong supporter of the farm added mr arm strong york county should continue to maintain a farm at its home for the aged content ment
