marion hilliard and other sources in her talk mrs button drawing on practical experience and thoughtful observation of chil dren contributed much to a better understanding of them some of the thoughts pre sented by mrs button were our children live in a different world to that in which we grew up changing living conditions laboursaving devices smaller family units parent working conditions outside recreation etc while external things all tend to affect their inner lives their thinking feeling and act ing reference was made to a survey made in which children j kept a record for a week of how the funeral was conducted from the l e neill funeral nuchtim7theftetne7was ible chapel on tuesday afternoon for the late henry w burnett who passed away at his home in lemonville on sunday april 14 mr burnett had farmed at vari ous locations through the county during his lifetime and had been living retired at lemonville for some eight years he was in his 80th year besides his wife the former elsie smith he is sur vived by one son harry at home the funeral on tuesday was conducted by rev douglas davis interment was made in richmond hill cemetery to give them individual attention the average time per child per week was 7v4 minutes our world has been speeded up and is now closelyknit so that for example events in egypt make their impact upon us here and upon our future our family is a tiny world in which we learn group living it is in the family our children learn the skills which later they combine with others so making their impact upon society 612 years is the time when a child is all set for a great deal of learning he can grasp many kinds of new ideas reading aloud in the family circle is recommended as a way of stim ulating mental activity arv affording much pleasure most talents to the masters servnee encyclopedia may prove a worthwhile investment even the pictures are enjoyed by a child unable to read and respect may ve learned for other peoples property when ou children tease and quarrel with one another per haps we should bear in mind much of it is an awkward attempt at learning how to get along with others brothers and sisters are handy to practice on from 6 on children reach out for friends more than one close friendship is desirable since if the one friend moves away a child is left with a sense of being cutoff camp experience is good for children in that all children need to rub shoulders and be sandpapered as it were with others to learn to appreciate the good points of others some of the best camps cost the least much depends upon the people in charge following mrs buttons talk the audience divided into three sections for buzzsessions mem bers joined the group of their choice to discuss ways and means of handling problems out lined under these headings 1 when children rub each other the wrong way 2 the familys responsibil ity about growth health and sex education 3 learning to be good neighbours the findings of the smaller groups were
