meeting of the wa of the united church was held on monday evening march 18 in the church parlors mrs a dowswell president presiding the call to worship was express ed through the theme song followed whitchurch she received her schooling in stouffviue under the late james hand in 1896 she married harry sanders and the couple returned from a wed ding in chicago to make their permanent home here mrs sanders took a leading part in the ladies organizations of the united church as well as assisting her husband who has managed the lakevlew house summer resort at jacksons pt for the last fifty years martyrs was shown this is a picture of the fine young men missionaries in ecuador who were martyred on jan 8 1956 as they were trying to reach the auca indians a savage tribe of sa as yet un reached by the white man and the gospel of christ these mis sionaries were shown with- their wives also the aeroplane in which they flew over indian ter ritory and the landing strip where they endeavoured to make a friendly contact with these natives later their bodies were found here by the rescue party and they were buried at the place where they had so nobly laid down their lives for their love for christ and for the indians the widows of these fine missionaries with their chil dren are bravely continuing missionary work in ecuador miss cuthbertson closed her message with an- earnest and solemn
