fc th stowfytui twkme tktvirf ma 28 1957 hornets are lions peewee champs a little life left it l probably true that to ttret corser kosp on monday morning with rtgard to saturday nights hockey brawl n the arena waji more concerned itb the tirawl than the hockey although ice are strictly opposed to such occurrences either by the players or the fan there is some satisfaction n knowing that there are at leasts a few local spectators who havent lost that enthusiasm that would pack district arena to the rafters a few years ago if you were one of the 600 odd tans who watched the juvenile contest here oa saturday you probably noted as i did the lack of real hlshfired eicitement on the part of our stouftville rooters the partisan norwich supporters not only outcheered us but they came very close to outnumbering us vei close to 300 spectators journeyed more than 100jnies to urgo their favourites on to victory i wonder if 300 stouffville fans would have travelled to norwich if the final game had been scheduled for their arena i hardly think so i cant understand the wishywashy attitude that seems to have takfn a strangle hold bn our tv loving public there was a good crowd there you say sure but take away the norwich fans and the attendance would have been pretty im that game on saturday night here was important real important and if local supporters wont come out and exercise their vocal cords at an ontario feiniflna contest then they never will i noticed a number in the arena on saturday watching our juvenile entry in action for the first time this season where were they during the series with ijbrtdge voodbrldjo and havelock this is not the case onlv in the sport of hockey how many times do our local ited sox players receive a hearty round of applause for a fine fielding play perhaps a couple of times throughout the entire season perhaps the most obvious example of our lukewarm sports enthusiasm occurred last winter when our bantam hockey club entertained stirling here in the ontario semifinals i believe if an actual count had been taken at the turnstiles the fans from stirling would have outnumbered our stouffvllle spectators it is for these reasons that i have no intentions of calling saturday nights allfan fight a disgrace or a black mark on our local hockey although it must be admitted that a number of spectators went to extremes and carried their enthus iasm a little too far it gives your writer a degree of satisfaction to know that stouffvllle still has it few fans who take a defeat with a certain amount of seriousness aside from a few scrapes bumps and bruises no one was seriously injured in the fracas red wings hornets peewee champions receive their trophies the red wings under coach ner although the rangers play- ed dawson and the hornets ed
