interests of the redents in a project of this type it is hard to arrive at a decision without stepping on somebodys toes the horticultural society was not happy to se their project re moved but mr iatcham who is donating the poo to the park has promised that every effort will be made to save the per manent shrubs trees and plants and relocate thm at a later date one must take a longrange and broadminded view of this project other towns and villages would make many sacri fices in order to obtain such a gift ix the ruxxixg our four hockey teams are still in the running two in group competition and two in the ontario playoffs the clipper are rolling along at a good clip now and appear headed toward the group finals they whipped richmond hill la two straight game3 the second contest being a onesided tilt aurora the strongest team in the group throughout the regular schedule has had trouble with milton a team that did not chalk up an enviable record during the season the clippers admittedly are a hot and cold club they appear to play their best hockey away from home and for some unknown reason they have turned in pome eyepleasing performances before the nonpartisan fans in the foreign rinks here at home their showing for the most part has been mediocre but the fans are confident that when the chips are down they will come through the juveniles and bantams are attracting almost as much interest as the intermediates these days due to their current uccess in the ontario playoffs doth clubs have now reached the quarterfinals their next opposition is havelock both teams are cinderella entries the juveniles were organized ftt a late date when the majority of other teams were ready to start their regular schedules the bantams were considered to be only overgrown peewee players who would never emerge from their own group they have fooled the experts however and have done amazingly well much of the credit for both teams success must go to their coaches keith sutherland and jack watson don davis manager of both clubs has done yeoman service for our entire minor hockey organization from the juveniles down to the peewees the midgets although a little disappointing are still in competition for the north york group championship they were knocked out of the ontario playdowns by a superior beeton club well thats how our hockey teams stand at the present time every week they remain in the running they move one step closer to an allontario championship we dont intend to make any rash predictions well just sit tight and keep our fingers crossed paying off perhaps now we are seeing some results of our lions peewee hockey league two of our minor entries have reached the quarter finals of the ontario playdowns the majoritv of these players received training through the ranks of our peewee group last year the bantam team reached the ontario semi finals and these boys also were proteges of our lions peewee organization i am confident that the training these boys receive in the peewee competition gives them a decided advantage when they merge into bantam and midget ranks it is true that a small percentage of our peewee graduates will continue on in organized hockey but some of the lads have a natural ability which along with a minimum of training makes them a cinch for a berth on the bantam club clippers beat hill 65 125 the stouffville clippers edged richmond hill 65 here on thur sday night then stepped onto their oppositions home ice and trounced the yonge street crew by a score of 125 on friday evening the
