apart and marked the tist time in the 11year his tory of the hospital that any births have been recorded on new years day the two mothers mrs geo smith of claremont left and mrs fred mantle of goodwood proudly display their new- sons it is mrs smiths fourth child but the first for mrs mantle both were presented with silver cups by mrs ella malcolm the hospital super intendent jim tiona rcmp officers and local po lice are endeavoring to track down a carload of marauders who invaded dr alan secords bird sanctuary on the 3rd con cession of uxbridge township over the new year holiday and dispersed the fourteen wild can ada geese which make their home there over the winter some were killed one left maim ed to die and others apparently frightened away dr secord and other sports men and bird lovers are particu larly incensed over the incident such hoodlums with guns give good sports a bad name de clared dr secord the trcs- come when the doctor called them they mate for life dr secord told the tribune and the few that were able to fly away will keep others from coming here in future there have been as many as two hundred and fifty geese stop in at the secord pond on their annual migration south the one bird left maimed by the irresponsible gunmen was removed to the secord ani mal hospital in toronto where its broken wing has been placed in splints a similar incident occurred
