strong of richmond hill we have enjoyed a new ven ture this year we have ex- l changed visits with the neigh bouring societies we have pro vided the program at their open meetings and they have come to us with a program the direc tors wish to thank mrs e nigh for her ejorts at training the directors for several chorus numbers to be given at the meetings the societies we ex changed meetings with include richmond hill agincourt thorrhill cnionville and mount albert a delegation from this society attended the convention at the king edward hotel in march and the district meeting in sep tember at mcgregor school our society exhibited two flo ral baskets at the cne result ing in a first and second prize we have one life member and honorary director in the person of mr a lamb he along with mr griffin a director and sev eral others whom we would like to mention if time permitted have put in many hours of work at the park garden the horticulture society lost a very valued member in the passing of the late mr harry klinck mr klinck had been a member of the executive since it was organized in 1323 he was also president for seven years his enthusiasm and willingness to work for the society was an inspiration to all and his ideas and suggestions always proved to be good ones his place can not easily be filled and he will long be remembered by the so ciety mr e r good another 1 of the workers in the society and who was a president several years ago has tendered his res ignation due to having moved from the village the office he held had another year to run we hope he will return often to visit i i am sure the incoming direc- ors and executive wish to have your continued support and in- terest as they in turn pledge themselves to keep up the good j work ringwood mrs fred steckley church service at 1115 a rr on sunday dec 2nd we would be glad to see v ou there excelsior class met at the home of mrs ruth fainter or thursday nov 22nd and very- much enjoyed the programme planned by mrs painter and mrs holt the next feeling will be in two weeks time at mrs atkinsons to avoid the christmas extras of home school concerts etc this correspondent was thrill ed to have the opportunity to see the inside of the new addi tion to ringwood school build ing as well as remodelled for mer part which was afforded the public on friday evening when the school board held open house the singing by students the speeches and dedi cation were all appreciated as well as doughnuts and coffee ably managed and served by the ladies mr and mrs e lew and brian had saturday dinner with her parents mr and mrs ross vague mr joe fockler celebrated a birthday on sundaydaughter helen and husband mr and mrs norman nigh treated by inviting to noon dinner mr howard steckley and to 8 pm vwwvwww weswsssscsaomc- sandoon cattle awarded prizes the sandoon shorthorn herd owned by a c medermott of goodwood was on exhibit at the recent royal winter fair and stood up very well in strong competition many of the top herds in both eastern and west ern canada as well as the state of ohio were present their junior bull calf sandoon lim bo placed fifth in a large class at the canadian national exhi bition he had been reserve jr champion of the show also grand champion at the short- horn regional show at beaver- ton at the completion of the royal he was sold to head one of new brunswicks good short horn herds mongolia mr clarence mcdowell was feted at a birthday party given by the pupils of his sunday school class friday night the celebration was in the form of a croquinole party at the home of neil fincham clarence was presented with a handsome scripture plaque and a box of chocolates after which a sump tuous lunch of cake and ice cream with coffee was devour ed florence hoover and ruth mckuen each tried to outdo the other in making beautiful cakes which were truly a work of art this was a most enjoyable eve ning mr and mrs cliff betz moved into their new home on 18th avenue west just off tenth concession last week welcome mr and mrs john byers and gordon spent the weekend with their son ronald and his wife in sarnia wed like to have peeked into the neighbours kitchens at stra tegic moments this past week the girls and boys of grades 5 and 6 were given a recipe for a cake with sample requested at school the results have been surprisingly good we hear and the children are proud of their culinary ability ann barkey and george brownsbarger help ed the teacher with the judging welcome to the little new ar rival at the barkwell home this little fellow is the fourth baby in the neighbourhood this year happy birthday mr bylstra mr and mrs harold cowie of hagerman and mr and mrs fred lee from brooklin were sunday guests at the bruce foote home mr and mrs ray wood anne and barry were present at the christening of their niece sharon janette watson daugh ter of mr and mrs bill wat son in the stouffville united church sunday guests at mr and mrs jos eph brownsbergers annivers ary dinner on saturday night were rev and mrs floyd schmucker of hagerman miss mary richer and mr and mrs sam brownsberger and ronnie of toronto mrs annie dike and
