Climax Jazz Band rocked Georgian Theatre Tuesday when the Toronto dixieland specialists performed in con cert The sixrman hand cajoled humored and excited the au dience with their stage theatrics and multi solo per formances it was hard to tell whether the liniax players were more interested in observing the au dicnce reactions to their fast tempoed dixieland sounds or to their humorous chatter Nevertheless the liniax Iau Rand lid reach into vast repertoire for such favorites as Muskrat Ramble When llle Saints to Marching in Snake Rag Kansas Blues and The Big Noise from Win necka IS When the limax players stuck to playing the authentic dixieland sounds they dem onstrated why they are con sidered by many to be the finest dixieland group north of New Orleans The hectic and exciting con trapuntal dialogues among the clarinet cornet and trombone had the audience stomping its feet on the floor Jim Buchnanns clarinet and saxophones Bob Pliwigs cor net Geoff Holmes trombone Zhris Daniels double bass Jack Inckens banjo and Stephen lattersalls drums all these instruments wailed out together And the players took full ad vantage of the several op portunities at solo playing which is one of the hallmarks of dixieland music to showjust how versatile and proficient they are on their instruments and top name guest star on the TV Television Network Thursdays But it was in their zealous cf
