spuywvmaqu Points to ponder God loves us 08 we are By DOROTHY KILBURN This month marks the 20th anniversary of this devotional column Iventy years and the exhilaration that comes to me through the privilege of preaching Jesus Christ through the medium of the secular press has never waned When have finished the column sealed the envelope am happy all over again for the opportunity of glorifying God To glorify an old Bible expositor Andrew Murray gives the meaning to glorify means to remove the hindrances so that one can see the beauty of an object yearn that my words shall cascade in beauty down the printed page so that this frustrated hectic age may realize how utterly fantastic God is Take for instance the Bible verse God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself not imputing their trespasses unto them and hath committed unto us the world of reconciliation Because God the Father is Spirit He was there at Calva ry in Christ taking the punishment for the sins of the whole world by one historical sacrifice neonlighting to every individual Gods love and concern for him God loves you just as you are But it will be no benefit to you unless you believe it Most folks instead of looking to Calvary to see the love of God they look around and cry Why doesnt God do something about all this crime and violence If He is God of love why do people suffer dont have all the answers But know from experience that if we come to Him in humility and repentance He brings peace to the mind joy to the heart and purpose to the life Is your life in mess Marital problems unemployment ill health and nervousness God has the answer He will lead us through the maze of life if we are willing to be lead by Him The word of God says If any man be in Christ he is new creature Perhaps you would like to have new beginning It is up to you God is willing Weekly meditation Not guilty you say Remember By REV FRANK WUEST Emmanuel Baptist Church number of years ago short ly after Id arrived in Singapore drove to the main police station to pick up my Singapore drivers licence The station is in the busy uptown section and parking places were very difficult to find To my amazement the entire block next to the station was empty of parked cars with the exception of one large truck pulled in behind the truck look ed for any no parking signs or notices of parking restrictions None were in sight even ask ed the truck driver if it was all right to park there and he as sured me it was When came out after finishing my business found large Easternstyle parking ticket under my windshield wiper My first thought was there mtst be some mistake This is not posted area This is unfair should not have been tagged So went inside and spoke to constable He said Didnt you see the white line Whatwhiteline The white line in the middle of the road Of course So what In Singapore wherever there is white line down the middle of the road it means no parking on the street parallel to the white line had unknowingly broken the law of Singapore could have said that in Canada white line down the middle of the road means something else and pro Saved for gives life to William Allen of Bentley Alberta was guest speaker at the monthly dinner meeting of the Christian Businessmens Committee of Barrie Oct 11 Chairman Mel Flig led the meeting which was highlighted by singer Bruce Benson of Bradford who accompanied himself with the guitar and also led the group in the singing of several songs The spea er told the gather ing his father had been raised in Thombury Ont and moved west in the early years his life to Saskatchewan where he broke sod with oxen and lived in sod shack was born in Saskatchewan and raised with Christian up bming attended church and ay School regularly and wanted to be Christian In my association with boys at school became involved with dirty language tried to give it up but it didnt work About that time we had ten day crusade at our church and accepted Jesus Christ as my saVIour got married but didnt ow as should have We got nto the cattle business an aimed for prestige and the pa brackets lived for catt and making it to the top Allen said after time his family left the cattle business and went into the pig industry raising purebred stock During this time our family of four grls and four boys were growing up When they were old enough asked them what they Disenchanted WOODSTOCK Ont CP Seventhday Adventist preacher says people are caving conventional churches for evangelism because they are disenchanted with the or thodox system Ron Watts said orthodox churches are becoming in volved in social issues without using their Bibles and are alienating their congregations People hunger for certainty these days he said in recent interview Gods laws tested that there should have been signs markedno parking area But was living in Singapore and was responsible to keep the laws of that country not Canadas confessed my wrong doing and appealed to the mercy of the constable He made it plain that was guilty and liable to fine Then he decided to excuse me from paying the fine because of exceptional circumstances You dont deserve this he said thanked him and ac cepted his offer The Bible says that all of us have sinned and come short of the glory of God Yes weve broken Gods laws in thought word and deed He made the world in which we live and He has right to say what is re quired ofus If we lie steal lose our temper cheat we break Gods law and we are guilty and liable to any punishment He decrees It wont do any good to say that we did not know about His eternal laws We ought to know about them We have Gods Word we ought to know the laws of His kingdom Law breakers are sinners Arent you glad that Jesus came to save sinners Arent you glad that those who believe that He paid the penalty for their sins can receive Him as their Saviour and be declared not guilty by God Those who dont will have to pay for their own sins in eternal hell Arent you glad that Jesus came purpose Christ wanted to do and they all agreed we would work the place together We were now the top three in swine breeding in Westem Canada Seven of the top breeders in Saskatchewan and Manitoba were usin our stock Thatwas whatlha aimed for It was exciting to reach the top but found no real satisfac tion Two years ago Allen began to develop headaches His doctor told him it was nerves and they would go away We went to Florida for month but there was no im provement One side became paralyzed but the doctor told me would come out of it The thought struck me that had been saved for purpose and it was time to get in iorities in order Isaid Lor am completely yours and it was that move which gave me the greatmt satisfaction of all Four months later my wife made total commitment fol lowed by one son and his wife Our oldest son was saucy boy sharptongued and hard to get alon with His marriage was hea ed for the rocks but through his Christian mother showing her love he came to the Lord Allen told the group another of his sons was associated with drink and other things He at tended church only when he had nothing else to do One by one the members of my family came to Christ and at last he said Lord take me tmlIT He said the family still has one 17yearold son outside In the other life never knew joy or victory in daily liv ing until Christ came into my life This is the greatest thing which can ever take place in manslife The next dinner meeting of the CBMC will take place Nov when Murray Faris owner and manager of Maple Farm near Bradford will be the guest speaker The AmbaSSadors Quartet with Doug Giffen and other members of the Minesing community will sing the examiner sourdoy Oct 22 1911 St Barts is our royal chapel rme The present
