criticism of his governments decision to extend full government services to Arabs liv ing in two of the occupied territories Every man who believes in human progress should hail this move Begin told Israeli law to the territories which would be tantamount Corrections officers walk out in Manitoba WINNIPEG CP Most provincial jails and detention centres were operating with only supervisory staff today following an unexpected strike by corrections officers to back pay demands The 500 members of the Manitoba Govern ment Employees Association MGEA began walking out shortly before midnight Sunday Manitobas deputy corrections minister Dr John Banman said today it was difficult initially to forecast how many of the guards would remain off the job He said jail activities that require heavy supervision likely would be restricted but adlt ded no decision has been made whether to bring in RCMP or Canadian Forces personnel as replacement guards The corrections officers have been without contract since March 26 and are seeking wage parity with their federal counterparts John Gillingham superintendent of Headlingley jail said this morning he doesnt expect any trouble and some of the
