Whats fritter burger Fast food trade may find By PAT GUERGIS Examiner Staff Reporter An industrial engineer living in Barrie has decided to market his own food productthe frit ter burger combination of pure beef rice spices and onions the pro duct will be marketed as fast food or frozen heatandserve item Ray Demiray of Chieftain Crescent says he decided to market his own food product because he and his wife had found similar food times in the frozen food sections of super markets and we didnt like them too much The idea came to me to in troduce good tasty product to the market for families such as ours he says This product contains no artificial material at all No preservatives no col or and no artificial flavor My aim is to keep the nature of the flavor as it should be For this reason Demiray says the fritter burger can be taken out of the freezer used for lunch and the leftovers can be saved for dinner or used the next day It is good hot or cold he says used to work at it in the daytime and then when my wife came home from work would have her test all the different ways had prepared it Demiray recalls After while she would say no more they are all beginning to taste the same Demiray says he has pages of records he kept on the testing done in his kitchen Blends of spices cooking times and temperatures and combina tions for the breading are some 20f the characteristics which had to be perfected TASTE IMPORTANT Ihe taste is very important and if the product is not processed properly the taste is not the same he says The calorie cormt has been kept low Demiray says and when the packaging is com pleted the calorie count will likely be included in informa tion about the contents realize that people want to know what is in something they buy and have kept the amount of fat low he says There is only small bit of margarine in it out soon Vegetable oil is used for fry ing the fritter burger which is shaped like fish bar The burger is about inches long and about oneandahalf inches square Demiray says he loves to cook and often has Turkish friends call up to ask him to prepare some of the dishes from recipes his mother used While have friends here test my fritter burger on them It has been tested with mustard catchup and mayon naise and it is good each way he says The more you eat the more you like it is the main com ment people who have tried the be answered by those whotry it He said he was advised by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism and Industry to hire con sulting firm but since that prov ed too expensive the next best thing is doing the consumer research himself havent really encountered too many problems yet he says So far sogood began by finding out what the different regulations were for different levels of govern ment The
