Hustlers as leaders of the City Fastball league Intermediate Division That upstart Barrie CoOp club has already tarnished the Hustlers perfect record 1112 not to merit ion mildly rapp ing the knuckles of the division leaders With comefrom behind draw the last time the two teams tangled But thats not all Mr Transmission has been steadily working its way up through the eightteam grouping ap parently fully recovered from the shock wave caused by Peter Reino at the beginning of the schedule although Co Op stumped them Monday with 60 win Hustlers rambled to six straight wins before CoOp stop ped the train with 32 upset on June 16 Mr Transmission is young club and one of the five new teams in the Intermediate Division this season Hustlers had to play the catchup ball Friday to earn 44 draw with Mr Transmission Hustlers have to be considered definite threat at the fifth annual Molsons Fastball loumament this weekend After all theyre playing against seven other clubs in divi5ion theyve dominated so far in the uchedule Still tournaments are never predictable Like playoffs theyre of highly fickly nature and anything that can bap pen usually does Thats the way we looked at it and one of the Shear parks The remaining seven recreation Division teams will be joined by nine other outsiders Oriliia Turkeys Dons Fish and Chips Oriliia Minesing Midhurst Golf Haven Acres Alcona Flyers Holly Elmvale and Hillsdale are the other teams in the tournament The draw to see who plays whom in the opening round of both divisions takes place Wednesday at Molsons Just to make certain things stay interesting the Recrea tion Division draw will pit teams of the City League against an outside club in the first round ofplay its double knockout tournament with clubs going after the $150 cash prize offered to each division champion Finalists will receive $75 with $50 going to the consolation winners The final game of the tournament will pit the division champs together to decide the tournament grand cham pions An extra $50 and $25 has been put up for this finale The 77 toiimament has fewer teams than expected due in part to change in the tournament rates The toumament had been tentatively set for the first weekend in July but the Barrie Armoury was booked over the winter McAleer said this had something to do with more in termediate clubs being able to attend the Barrie tourna ment He said they had apparently booked their schedules around the customary date in Barrie only to find it had been changed One of the victims of the switch is Richmond Hill three time winners of the Recreation Division With them out of the way Georgian Sports and Giffen Farm Equipment have to be considered the powers to reckon with at the toumament The two clubs are separated by few points at the top of the eightteam Rec Division heading into the final weeks of the Schedule Georgian Sports is the current leader with 23 points on 11 wins one tie and one loss while Giffen has 20 points on nine
