afternoon The children first saw series of films made by local animators and then led by librarian Margaret Worth and her daughters Theresa and Polly made their own films The films were made by drawing series of dots on eight millimetre and 16 millimetre movie film The novice animators created their films by making small dots and increasing the size on each successive frame The films were then spliced together and shown on projec tor The younger children made flip books which are made by drawing characters on the ends of separate pages and then stapling the pages together Each character is in slightly different positionon each suc cessive page so that when the pages are flipped the characters seem to move Mrs Worth described Satur days animation festival as very successful and said she plans to have moe animation workshops and festivals in the near future However she added that she has not set any dates for future sessions because she is busy planning the summer program at the childrens library For the moment she said children who want to learn more about animation can call the childrens library and leave their names and they will be notified of the dates of future sessions Five new members join Barrie Sharamazda Club Five new members of the Sharamazda Club of Barrie were welcomed recently at the clubs March meeting held at the Eastern Star rooms of the Masonic Temple The five were installed at ceremonial in Toronto with 28 Barrie members attending The regular March meeting featured the reading of various club reports and presentation of the names of the 197778 slate of officers Dorothy Banting is president of the new executive with Bar tiara Tupling serving as past president Muriel Stephens is vice president while Daisey Edey is secretary and Erica Giles is treasurer It was also announced the Sharamazda Club is donating croupette to the Royal Victoria llospitals pediatric ward There are also donations go ing to theBurns Institute and Shrine Crippled Childrens Hospital in Montreal Enid Coupland of Barrie was the guest speaker introduced by Phyllis Johnston Mrs Coupland showed slides on an aroundthewrold cruise she took last year starting residents governing group association and former vicepresident of the Con dominium Cooperative Execu tive Council of Florida lobby ing group for condo associ ations Lerner 62 retired six years and moved to Hollywood from Flushing NY He has given lot of thought to what makes so many condo residents unhappy Now he continued they think theyre home free Debbie French heads sorority Debbie French was elected president of the Theta Epsilon Sorority at the bimonthly meeting at the home of Bev Shick on March The new executive for 197778 is vice president Donna Anderson recording secretary Chris moreexpensive complexes are relative free of the strife that is experienced by some residents Truman Paddisons celebrate golden wedding anniversary Reita and Truman Paddison of RR Barrie celebrated half century of marriage Sunday at the Barrie home of their daughter and soninlaw Mr and Mrs Gordon Dawson of Barrie The actual date of the golden anniversary was Saturday hand Sunday to celebrate were the couples three children Mrs Dawson Mrs Dave Miller of Waverley and Russell Paddison of Orillia seven of their eight grand children the eighth is in Calgary and their only great grandchild 212yearold Yvonne Muzzeral of Barrie The couple received con gratulatory letter and plaque from Ontario Premier William Davis certificate from Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and letters from federal opposition leader Joe Clark Simcoe North MP Dr Rynard and Simcoe Centre MPP Arthur Evans Truman Paddison former cabinet maker for the Canadian National Railway was born in Stayner while Mrs Paddison hails from Midhurst They have lived at their present address since1941 The couple belon to St Georges Anglican urch in Allandale and Mrs Paddison is past president of the Painswick Womens Institute
