Tanenbaum bought an old English home in Toronto they decided that nothing would look better on its walls than old Eng lish paintings They unwittingly began to amass what art collectors and museum curators now consider to be one of the finest private collections of t9century art in the world The Tanenbaum collection consisting of 105 paintings and 17 sculptures recently ended 15month crossCanada tour which began at the National lery of Canada Ottawa in ober 1977 The collection does not repre sent the traditional view of 19th century art Many of the artists have been forgotten in this cen tury having achieved inter national prominence in their time only to he eclipsed by their own students the impres sionists Many of these people have been completely out of favor for century says Katharine Lochnan curator at the Art Gallery of Ontario These painters have been written out of the histories Its only in the last 10 years that people have begun to get re spectable interest in them again Credit for the reevaluation of such artists as JeanLeon Ge rome James liscot Sir Law rence AlmaTadema and An toine Vollon is due in part to the Tanenbaums who by the 1970s Bagbidil Mall ARE highway but only 50 mpg in the living room Were back in the wild and wonderful world of Maxwell Msart the agent of CONTROL who made us all laugh in the halfdecade from 1965 to 1970 Don Adams who played Maxwell Smart is playing him again This time though hes going to star in mov1e The desk is proof positive that this is movie not TV show There is real motorized desk the desk blotter pops up to form windshield and the budget of TV show wouldnt permit them to actually con struct motirized desk 37 MILLION Adams says that the budget for the 150 shows he did in those five years averaged $100000 an The budget for this one movie is in excess of $7 million You can build motorized desk when you have that kind of money Otherwise the show is basically the same Adams is the same at any rate looks the same talks the same and makes Smart at once bumbler and success There will be no Agent 99 Barbarbara Feldon and unfortunately different chief Ed Platt who played the chief died Eugene Roche was signed to play the chief in the movie They had already shot many scenes when Roche took ill it may be hepatitis and had to be replaced Now Dana Elcar is the chief and they have had to reshoot many of the scenes that Roche had already hot As for Agent 99 Adams says he doesnt know why they decided not to use Barbara Feldon mmmxem LO Disoovory ITr LP It 699 599 Moo tinnit humanmo 61234 567B 901 M901 another TV series But then he says the studio Universal felt there would be market for it as feature It is obviously Universais hope that Smart could catch on as movie series in the James Bond or Pink Panther tradition As matter of fact Adams believes that Smart is about halfway between Bond and spector Clouseau as character not as dumb as Clouseau certainly not as suave as Bond Adams says he hasnt
