existing hours are interfering with tourism In brief submitted to the CanadaOntario Rideau TrentSevern CORTS Secretariat the association says government officials should survey boaters to determine how many of them would use the system if it was open longer Macdonald TrentSevern waterwav superintendent said Friday the waterway budget will not permit extended hours and present hours are based on past waterway use Judy Delaney the associations advertising and promotional coordinator presented the brief at Friday nights public meeting of the CORTS advisory committee The association wants the in September By DENNIS LANTHIER Of The Examiner An increase of between eight and nine per cent in electricity rates will hit Barrie residents on Sept15 The increase in electric rates is the first in over two and half years says Bill Elson secretarytreasurer of the Barrie Public Utilities Commission PUC The local PUC is running short of cash and the move is being made to save deteriorating situation Elson told The Ex aminer Frida The PUC has absorbed 20 per cent in creases from Ontario Hydro and it will have to absorb another 10 per cent increase by Jan 1980 The actual increase will range between about seven and 10 per cent de riding on the amount of electricity consum said Elson person who uses 2000 kilowatts of elec For broadcast Sunday tricity would now be paying $5850 every two months That same person will pay $6405 on or after Sept 15 an increase of 95 per cent Someone using 1000 kilowatts of power will pay $3855 rather than $3550 Thats an in crease ot 86 per cent Elson
