by Barrie Mayor Ross Archer The Optimist Club of Barrie sponsors of Golf Drive for Youth fund raising pro Ject started the ball rolling or should say started the ball driving Saturday when they held the annual golf touma ment at Springwater Golf Course Golf Drive for Youth is fun project for the people of Bar rie and area It is not only way of raising money for the many youth projects sponsored by the Optimists it is also community project to get the citizens of the area out to one of the fine participating golf courses The golf courses tak ing part this year are Allandale Barrie Country Club Simoro Links Shanty Bay Springwater Golf Haven Horseshoe Valley and Golf OTron for Youth Week ends Saturday Celebrities Day at the GolfOTron 59 Bell Farm Road Bar rie Starting time is pm and anyone with pledges is welcome to come and drive ball for youth All money raised will go to support our young people in various community activities such as the Barrie Optimist Minor Soccer Association Optimist Baseball Team Barrie Optimist Track and Field Club the Optimist Soap Box Der by the Rover Scouts and many more worthwhile projects Club honors outstanding persons Each year the Barrie club honors several of our youth who have made outstanding contributions to the community and present they with awards at dinner of the club during Youth Appreciation Week pect for Law Week the club honors the outstanding police officer of the year and presents awards to citizens who have assisted the police These club projects are worthy of everyones support This being the lntemational Year of the Child the Optimist Club of Barrie has several new projects in mind for our communi ty that will be of benefit to all On behalf of the club wish to thank all the people of the area who have
