Shes now studying at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto at 23 shes tackled everything from large abstracts to sculpture and iewelry The library exhibit includes prins drawings oil paintings sculpture and jewelry The best work on display two water color portraits and several small black and white prints is imaginative and shows con fident technique and style The two watercolors portray woman and clown The col ors in the clown paintings are bright and dramatic and corn plement the artists skillul fragmentation of the figure Her style is bold enough to pull EXPLORE bear UP IN ADVANCE ADVERTISEMENT the show the clown as he really isa colorful exhibitionist as splendid as peacock The prints in the show range from somber abstracts to dancing clown figure Many of the abstracts have that ex perimental quality typical of young artist still finding her way with medium The more representational works show better understanding of the relationship between form and content Also impressive is Jason classicallystyled drawing of man thats reminiscent of the European masters Miss Smiths study of the human form shows mature technique and sensitivity remarkable for young artist Less impressive are the large oil portraits and abstracts in cluded in the show Miss Smith seems more comfortable with the human figure than the abstracted patterns of color that fill the larger works
