The board along with representative of the company proposing the special system will make special deputation to council Monday night The downtown board has recommended the city install the lights which resemble traditonal gaslamps on Dunlop Street east now under construction Eventually the lighting system would be expanded says Peter McIntyre downtown board member General committee recom mended two weeks ago to main tain the present lighting along Dunlop from Mulcaster at the point near the Lakeview Dairy But council deferred on the matter because of the downtown boards request for deputation McIntyre said the decision by the city was based solely on financial information given city council members by ad ministration The information said costs of establishing to decorative and not one call in favor of it Coun Jans said decisions on the course should be left up to the school board trustees She has said she would be upset if school board trustee told herhow to do her job downtown core He said the lights would not be the sole cause of potential downtown revitalization but wold be major factor in con tributing to it He said that the improve ment of one thing would even tually lead persons to make other improvements to the core area The lights would also be economical in the long run because of maintenance fac tors said McIntyre presentation was to originally have
