Bayfield street and immediately south of the city limits Stollars not interested in planning boards opinion on the matter city planner Rick Jones told the board He said Stollar who did not attend may forego taking the matter to general committee and may head straight to the Ontario Municipal Board OMB have lot of suspicions about this application Ald Ruemper said His absence from the meeting tonight speaks lot It was mentioned Stollar may be proceeding with the applica tion simply to challenge the Barrie planning arrangements for the downtown FREEZEON The city has freeze on all commercial development on the fringe of the city limits while plans for downtown are underway Roger Oatley planning board member said Stollar could challenge the entire of ficial plan amendment which council approved in principle recently Rick Jones did not agree He said it the case came before the OMB the city would likely have little to worry about He said the case would be solid To thwart commercial the mill rate increase to minimum jump of at least six mills is expected Richard Platt chairman of the committtee reported Mon day the present rate ranges from 1757 mills for commer cial establishment to 1336 for private home The committee recom mends that each department review their budgets for priorities in an effort to reduce the mill rate to an acceptable level as determined by coun cil report chapter of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario the pro vincial treasurer said engineers have the ability to analyze and define problems pragmatically They are taught to deal with empirical factors he said Theyre not theoreticians He said politicians from backgrounds other than the business world often need all details of plan worked out in advance before putting it into action
