quite commit ted to the life they lead their husbands and their families ENRICIIMENT WANTED What theyre really looking for is enrichment not drastic change says Mrs Beecroft She adds that drastic changes are usually not the answer No matter where you live your life you have to learn to be satisfied and content to truly enjoy it she says Because many women con tinue feel dependent on men for financial and emotional stabili ty they feel their options in life are restricted We encourage women to look closely at their own lives and assess what changes they would like to make In order to live life creative ly and effectively think you must take time for reflection To help women take their masks off at the start Mrs Beecroft and Mrs Curtis use studies in the first of their threesession seminar to outline common whoes of middleclaSS women W0 EN FEEI iLIIT Knowing others have similar dissatisfactions makes women feel less guilty about their own feelings and allows them to better work on solutions Mrs Beecroft says that although she and Mrs Curtis lead the discussion neither of them see themselves as role models We learn as much or more than others in our groups because we have the opportuni ty to hear from so many women she says NO SET ANSWERS These arent sessions that provide set answers Were just giving people the opportunity to look at what is important to them make goals and then look at action steps they can take Despite signs that changes are taking place in the way children are raised which may cause fewer women to suffer from poor self images and lack of confidence in the future many today still feel malaise Women were given false ex pectations of what our lives would be like Most still have the Sleeping Beauty script in their minds to tell them to please other people not to be too demanding or abrasive and feed mens egos Often marriage does not end up being what theyd expected and theres disappointment sense of being let down people plaoes women get together they always dis cuss at what age husband is capable of dressing himself stopped dressing my husband two years ago when it be came clear he had wino dress wish He simply did not care that striped tie and plaid shirt were incompatible or that trousers worn to the ankle were to he slipped on only in the event of flood on the way to the rowboat We had words over it and said From here on in you are on your own This year am going one step farther by severing the marital discord entirely and letting him do his own packing for vacation Its risky but he has to assume the respon sibility sometime Last year just before vacation checked over his suil case and he had proved once again his preparedness for any occasion He had clothes in which to accept the Nobel peace prize He had clothes to parachute behind enemy lines dressed as mercenary He had clothes to commandeer torpedo boat through squall He had clothes to barter for mules and guides in Colom bian jungle and clothes to celebrate Halloween behind the Iron Curtain He had clothes for snorkelling discoing safarieing high teas and low ceilings clothes for lounging and clothes to leave behind as tips He also packed eight pairs of shoes tripod and coats for all seasons There wasnt porter in the world who could have put an inch of space between that suitcase and the floor was not about to travel with the luggage of an anvil salesman Naturally brought some reason to the contents taking care to stuff the shoes neatly with underwear put the neces sary items into plastic bags and layer the SUllCElSO with cardboard to guard against wrinkles It would be his last brush with systematic packing Yesterday he told me his packing was complete opened the closet door There was nothing left in it except red vest and bow tie left over from high school In case you decide to wait tables you may have nothing to wear said drny He grabbed it off the hanger and stuffed it into his flight bag Pollys Pointers Best to place dishes better DEAR IIIY Sometimes an aluminum pan rubs against dishes in the dishwasher and leaves Silvery mark on them hope someone can tell me how to overcome this PAT DEAR PAT Of course the best thing is to arrange things in the dishwasher so no aluminum or stainless steel rubs against china But when this does happen the only way have found to remove the marks is to use toothpaste PIIY some maple cream fudge and as usual my spoon kept slipping down Into the candy wound rubber band around the spoon handle two or three times and this solved the problem beautifully No more slips MILDRED DEAR IUIIY An easy and greaseless way to remove oil front can of tuna fish is to simply invert the opened can thd inside the can over small plastic glass in the sink Push down on the inverted can and up on the lid inside and watch the packing liquid go down the drain instead of on you There is no danger of cutting your hand on the lid either DURUTIIY DEAR IttllY was ready to use large tablecloth and discovered it was mussed and had some fold marks knew that if pressed It by the time finished one side the other one would look just as bad So wet two Turkish towels not dripping but about like they would be after spinning III the washer and put them in the dryer with the cloth In from 30 to 60 minutes depending on the condition of the cloth it will look great and is so easy to do
