both made birdie putts and had chance to tie Palmer but they both missed Palmer had his first Masters victory In 1959 Palmer made strong bid to make it two Masters Championships in row but fell short finishing in third place The year 1960 saw Palmer reach full maturity as golfer It wasnt so much that Palmer won both the Master and the US Open that year it was how he won them coming out of the pack at the final turn and charging past the leaders Two words gained new meaning in 1960 army and charge Army was Palmers gallery and he developed habit of making charge from behind to win most of his
