century Russia But it is one of the most important tasks Do ing it right is half the battle of getting the job The first step is to read the application form This is pro bably the most forgotten step It helps to know in which direc tion you are headed before finishing the form and finding out you were supposed to fill out only the top part Step two is remembering to print Use extreme care and consideration since how the ap plication looks reflects upon the applicant If an employer cant read your name address or telephone number you might as well say goodbye to the job Besides most employers think that if the application is sloppy so is the applicant Step three is realizing that filling out the form is not race against the clock You dont get points for writing faster than the secretary can type Take your time Fill out all parts of the application that apply to you as thoroughly as you can Dont embellish previous work experience but rather tell it like it is in the best language you can ATTACHED RESLM If you have resume which anyone seriouslv looking for Mrs Ornstein said the facili ty could create an influx of commercial businesses in the area and said that would not be compatible with existing rural uses The planning board said however it is not their plan to permit an influx of commercial development in the area Mrs Ornstein said the development would add to high traffic volume along the con cession roads Cemas disagreed however and said growth cannot be stunted just because it may result in some change Jury returns TORONTO Staff The jury returns to the courtroom at 230 pm today for the second degree murder trial of Brian Gerald Laurier and Gwendolyn Judith Wilson Trial began April 30 with jury selection but jurors were dismissed immediately after selection Laurier 21 of Barrie and Wilson 19 of Oro Station plead ed not guilty to theDecember 1977 murder of 15yearold William Hughes of Toronto Hughes was stabbed after he and friend accepted ride from couple they met on downtown Yonge Street outh and jobs How you apply as important as who you are job should have ask that it be attached to the application form If possible return the ap plication and the resume to the personnel manager Ask to speak to him or her for few minutes about the opportunities that are available in the com pany Show some interest in working Employers want to see young energetic and in terested potential employees Remember employers watch you from the minute you step into the office They look to see how you are dressed how you speak to others and whether or not you show some initiative by coming to see about job open ings that are not advertised An application form is not just the piece of paper on which you put your name address and other pertinent facts but rather it is the total process of coming to the employer asking if there are any opening and filling out the application The employer hires all of you not just our handwriting or ability to fill in forms but they may be the deciding factor Show the employer the total you with your application JOB VACANCIES Fully qualified swimming in structors lt Fulltime counterperson Cocktail waitress Fulltime babysitters Resoure technologist Civil engineering student ficials The letter also says Any decisions about the construc tion of new school facility must be taken by the board Stephensons letter was sent in answer to request for meeting with her made by the French languag committee several weeks ago The committees letter con firmed its commitment to separate and distinct school for the areas French speaking high school students Without the school the committee says the French community will not survive WILL CONSTRUCT The board has said it would construct an annex to the ex isting high school for use by the French community It represents compromise to many trustees who say he number of students who would use the new facility does not justify the project Stephensons letter does not outline what role her officials are to play in the discussions Dr Germain Gauthier chair man of the French language committee told The Examiner this week he was pleased with the ministers action The com mittee wants her to intercede and if necessary act unilaterally to build the new school Its form of intervention What is happening is the best thing The ministry if review ing the situation and promoting discussion Midland trustee John Mc Cullough chairman of the com mittee would not comment Wednesday beyond saying he would tal with the ministry He did say he could only assume the ministry of ficials would adopt the role of mediators The French language com mittee charged under the Education Act with advising the board on matters concern ing the French minority decid ed in favor distinct building in December of 1977 CONTINUED TALKS Talks had continued until an apparent stalemate was reach ed in March of this year At that time the committee decided to ask Stephenson for meeting Complicating matters further the ministry has set aside $2 million for the construction of French language instructional unit for the Penetangushene area in 1980 McCullough has said the money enough to build small but distinct building represents commitment by the province to new building spokesman for the ministry told The Examiner the $2 million was rough figure that could be altered when the board makes its request McCullough said Wednesday the meeting could take place May 31 but that has not yet been confirmed Trustee supports separate school At least one trustee with the Simcoe Board of Education is willing to support the construc tion of separate facility for Penetanguishenes French speaking high school students if the province is willing to pay for it Dr William Ives Stayner told The Examiner he would go along with building separate school if the province paid the bill The ministry of education has said $2 million has been set aside for French language instructional unit for Penetangushene for 1980 Ives also said the availability of funds might change the mind of the board It decided to con struct an annex to the existing high school for use by the French community If the government is going to give the $2 million and buys the land Im sure the board will go for that French speaking students at tend French public school but go to Penetanguishene Secon dary School from there Ives said the board has balk ed at building separate facili ty because there are not enough students to justify its construc tion and an annex would be con siderably cheaper The French language com mittee wants the French stu dent to attend school in settingdominated by French to ensure the maintenance of the language and culture Choosing books difficult With only
