released from Hamilton Wentworth regional detention centre this week because of mixup involving jail and court officials provincial judge had remanded Hannaford who had pleaded guilty May in custody at the centre until sentencing Thursday Hannaford had to appear in county court on Monday however on unrelated charges When he returned to jail from his court appearance he told officials all outstanding charges against him had been dealt with including the pro vincial court robbery charges Dennis Phillipson superintendent of the detention centre said the information was confirmed by county omirt clerk When jail official phoned the rovincial court office to chec on the remand order against Hannaford the clerk said bail had been posted on the provincial court charges After we received the release form from high court and were advised by provincial court that bail had been posted Michael was free to go on all charges Phillipson said So wereleased him When Hannaford appeared in court Thursday defence counsel Neil Jones told the court that Hannaford gave himself up hours after his release Monday when he discovered mistake had been made Justice of the Peace John Flis provincial court ad ministrator said he cannot believe any of his clerks would have told the jail that bail had been posted it is clearly marked on Han nafords records that bail had been denied on
