Fred Ryans told The Examiner Thursday We feel terrible Ryans and his wife Eileen both more than 70 years old rescued the then three weekold birds from the storm when they realized their mother had deserted them The Ryans affectionately referred to the robins as orphans of the storm Anxious to find the best care possible for the orphans the Ryans contacted Gordon Beswetherick well known bird naturalist who lives outside Barrie About three weeks ago Beswetherick agreed to look after the birds Shortly after the Ryans visited the birds but were greeted with sad news The two weakest birds it and fed it to the bird The Ryans and Beswetherick then built the bird nest with wood shavings and paper towels With all that care however Ryans said dont think its going to 33 survive Ryans agrees the birds turn for the worse may have been because they missed the Ryans LIKE CHILDREN Thats not far off the mark said Ryans They are very much like infant children change of voice could terrify them
