Barrie man who climbed the steps to the Tower in Toronto 12 times Satur day intends to stake his claim for worlds record as soon as he can get of fieials at the tower to verify his per formance in writing Robert lezequel 2H owner of Robeitos Pizzeria told The Examiner Monday he intends to submit his feat of climbing to the Guinness Book of Records as soon as it is confirmed by officials who witnessed it Iezequel was one of more than 1000 pee ple who paid $3 climb Saturday to take part in the timed Ways Walk to the Top He said he completed the 12 climbs in exactly eight hours starting at 010 am and finishing at TV 10 pm If had been little faster could have climbed it 13 times but couldnt buy ticket after pm Iechuel said ItllNEl FRIEND He said John Lawford of Angus friend of fiis had also climbed the lowers 1760 steps 12 times Saturday but beat him by about eight minutes The 25vearold Lawford however rais ed about $500 in pledges for the Barrie and District United Way through his et forts spokesman with the organization said Monday Jezequcl said the two of them had first climbed the tower last year when both of them made it to the top four times and finished in lie After the first climb we thought there was nothing to it so we did it four times that day Last years txrformance was also record Jezequel said and the two friends went back this year to defend their title But
