to locate transformer station across from their homes George Taylor PCSimcoe Centre told about 15 members of the Carson Road Ratepayers Association he could not pro mise solution to the problem but would carry the issue to top government levels if necessary Taylor told The Examiner he would take the matter to Minister of Environment Harry Parrott and Minister of Energy James Auld If they will not give me the satisfaction of thoroughly reviewing it will go to the premier William Davis and say am not satisfied with the results am getting with the prodedure During meeting the ratepayers made it clear they on no account with the station on the location known as Site which was favored by On tario Hydro over four other choices in the area Several members said the station would mean devalua Hydro that the visual impact will be minimized by use of screening techniques and that poential property value changes will be discussed during negotiations between Ontario Hydro and the local land owners the letter said However local spokesman for Ontario Hydro has already said the residents will not be compensated as their proper ties are not directly affected by the site Taylor said Ontario Hydros report was not very ac curate depiction of the situa tion The illustrations and photographs were innocuous and fuzzy he said Looking at this report it does not set out the number of residences or the individuals af fected on Carson Road Taylor agreed with Ontario Hydro rejection of Site located in Barrie and more popular choice with the residents and Vespra Town ship The cost factor and lack of accessibility made it less at tractive he said However several association members said two other sites and were better suited for the location of the station but had been rejected by Ontario Hydro Site located beind the homes rather than across from them and further east towards Highway 27 would have less visual impact they said Site located almost direct ly across the highway front Site is the location association members unanimously agreed they would prefer Ontario Hydro rejected the site because access to it would cause major disturbance to wetlands and would interfere with the view offered to motorists northbound on Highway27 Vespra Deputy Reeve Venncr Lambert said the station would not have to be built on the wetlands but could be moved furtherupthe hill Argyle said this location would also put the station right under Ontario Hydros feeder lines Taylor said Ontario Hydros argument that station on this site would obstruct the view to passing motorists was weak one cant understand how anybody could be so childish and naive to put forward this reason he said Taylor said he would also in quire as to whether Ontario Hydro has yet purchased the land forsite He said
