his daughterand as his obsession drags him deeper into world that disgusts him Scotts moral zeal seems to falter He wants revenge not justice and hes willing to bash heads to get it SIWIY REALIZES And when Scott teams up with hip porno actress Season Hubley during the search for Christan he slow ly realizes the issues arent as simple as they seem The two compare religions and fora moment Scott sees how arbitrary and rigid his values are lhat sense of doubt together with the reluctant admission his mar riagc was failure makes Scott little more human and little less of high minded pilgrim as the private detective nicknames him Hardcore is film that wants to shock us and shake us up but Schrader pulls too many punches along the way The conclusion is too contrived and predictable to be
