always been lots of electricity available in Ontario For many years all the electricity required could be gen erated by falling water alone But as the demand for elec tricity grew and all hydraulic sites were developed increasing reliance had to be placed on coal oil gas and recently uranium These resources are not unlimited and must be conserved Increasing population increasing industry and com merce increasing use of electrical processes and applications all keep the demand for electricity growing steadily at about year This cant continue As well as the need to con serve resources keeping pace with the present rate of demand is also far too costly Construction costs are up fuel costs are escalating and the supply of money is limited By 1979 the demand during periods of heavy consumption could well be greater than the generating capacity And theres the problem Shortages ahead if something isnt done now to reduce the rate of growth in the consumption of electricity And thats where your help is needed lot of electricity can be saved by simply eliminat ing waste Just look around you at home and at work Are all those lights necessary Does the thermostat have to be set
