council The report was ultimately tabled for future consideration The review of old records showed various changes through the years since county administration was started in 1843 with first meeting in Toronto The sessions were shifted to Barrie whre they were held until 1973 when the complex here at Midhurst was opened ONCE IGMEMBIIRS Back in the horse and buggy era of 1855 the county council had only 16 members James Sanson was then serving his third term as warden an honor restricted to one year since the turn of the century With the extension of council terms to tWo years for most municipalities few years ago there have been suggestions made the county warden and committees should be chosen for the longer term rather than stay by one year However so far this hasnt progressed
