seldom has chance to watch the sulkies fly by race night Pat is devoting all her energy and time pre paring race results for the local media receiving entry forms for future races and paying pur ses from previous meets Pat has been employed at the track for three years and in ad dition to her duties on race night helps track secretary George Deacon prepare pro grams for each of the race ways three weekly meets Although Pat attended only two meets before taking on the job as Mr Deacons assistant she now is an integral part of the machinery at the track It is really interesting be cause there is something differ ent happening all the time she said And the horsemen are all with The busiest days for Pat and Mr Deacon are when the draws or cards must be selected for race nights TAKES fair ELMVALE Staff Stu dents from Elmvale and area schools marched to the Elmvale fair grounds today to open the twoday fall fair which continues tomorrow The opening revives the fair which was cancelled last year due to rink renovations There will be another parade tomor row the fall parade of colors featuring floats decorated bicycles horse riders clowns and novelty classes The latter with eligibility cards and post position Entries for races are taken up to 9am and some phone en tries are also accepted the mor ning the draw is prepared When post positions are se lected Pat immediately sends the information on teletype which feeds the entries to three newspapers in Southwestern Ontario On race nightsthere are 50 during the season which lasts from June to midctoberPat is back in the queen contest will be introduced from the stage The winning contes tant will be crowned queen of the 1976 fair around 230 pm on Saturday Sulky horse racing under Canadian Trotting Association rules will be held on Saturday afternoon with classified events There also will be roadster horse classes as well as commercial and heavy horse competitions Cattle and other livestock also will be judged at the fairgrounds The closing entertainment on Saturday evening will include dairy princess contest and Mercey Brothers stage show dance will follow Larry Clement is resident of the sponsoring mvaleFlos
