will be of value to both myself and Essa in the future When the present council took office Essa was involved in controversial legal suit over the Essa Township Recreation Cen tre We not on dealt in the most economica way with this matter but resolved it with fairness to all concerned Also there was controversy over large amount of land zoned into conservation These lands since then have been removed from conservation and returned to agriculture and feel all objections were dealtwith fairly The concern about the use of sludge being dumped in the township should be stopped un til it is properly policed and monitored by the ministry of the environment feel the spending and our taxes in the township have been held in line and will continue to do so if reelected would like to thank my supporters in the past and will continue to do my best if reelected Councillors Richard Andrews RICHARD ANDREWS Keith Ellis KEITH ELLIS Richard Andrews is six year resident of Essa Township He has been in the technicalvocational education field for 14 years His manufac turing facility produces teaching aids which are sold world wide He has been involv ed in auditory training pro grams across Canada with em phasis on the training of emo tionally and physically han dicapped Andrews was with the Tana dian Army during whe last war and has served on local council for four years while resident of Quebec He has four children the youngest indy Lee attends Barrie North Zollt legiate in Barrie Having decided to settle per manently in Essa Township Dick and Bev have taken an ac tive interest in community aflt fairs Bev owns and operates the Coach House Restaurant and Lounge in Angus She also Ive been asked by the newspaper to give short pro file regarding my campaign platform for councilman Essa Township No doubt many of you know me already being the fourth generation of the Ellis family to live and farm in Essa Township was born in Utopia and the family later moved to farm in Ivy Our family of three conSists of two schoolage children Mellissa who is 12 and Roger who is eight plus an energetic threeyearold Krista Our childrens school involvement keeps us well informed on the topical issues of education Our DON ELINES IIAIILES IIIIIIIIA wrote on community affairs for the Barrie Examiner and Scopc ncwspaixrs Dick is particulary interested in seeking assistance for finanr ciiig home for senior citizens in the area In this area with its easy access to varied recreational facilities he fccls that the township should bc an active promotor of all groups endcavoring to interest our young people in healthy and ac tivc sports With the predicted growth of the township Dick fccls that the council should act strongly in making its own regulations with the minimum assistance of provincial government llc feels council should seek light industry so our young people can be employed locally llc feels he is bring an activc and varied business background to council and actively solicits your vote on Nov 13 girticular concern at present ling the quality of the buses transporting our children to school am well aware of problems that mixed farmers such as myself have come across and also feel my past 11 years of ex periencc on various forms of road construction would be an asset to the Township of Essa In summing up my platform is feel could fairly represent Reeve Ross Whiteside RESIDENTS Ii ESSA TOWNSHIP The following are few remarks concerning my posi tion as candidate for Deputy Reeve of Essa Township have been farming in this township for 24 years It is third generation farm My ex perience in many organizations has given me good background for the position of Deputy Reeve During my previous years on Essa council took positch and common sense approach to all matters know as chairman of roads committee we had very com prehciisivc plan for the needs of the day and the futurc Itxlay feel the urge and desire to hpr serve my friends and about the Robson subdivision as dont really bclicvc the people arc aware that it is not included in any sewer extensions to the proposed Angus servicing To climinatc the split in this township which is quite real the person elcctcd must bc able to uiidcrstand the nccds of the township as whole Although have not yet fully investigated the idea of ward system fecl it would be dctrimciital to the people living in lhc rural arcas because it would really split the pcoplc Who is Jim Burns Jim and lsobcl have bccn maiTicd for 25¢ ycars and havc tlircc married children and six grandchildren The farmers gain back the right to say what happens to their land Guergis has been involved in many community affairs and was first fund raising chair man for the Essa Township Arena As successful work diligently and tirelessly to the best of my ability believe that being business man with sense of residents are treated in fair and unbiased manner Commonsense decisions bas ed on researched information are needed not only for plann ed growth of the entire township but also for the everyday items which are im portant to the individual All issues must be uiidcrstood explained fully to those concerned then acted on fairly There should be open communication factual in formation available aiid good news coverage on regular basis If our residents are able to participate more be better informed and really believe that they are being dealt with honestly and fairly then they will have more confidence in their local government and themselves There should be efficient use of funds combined with pro gross that is beneficial The individual citizen is ini portant and must not be ig nored EARLE WILLIAMS humor is an asset as am also easily bored would sooner go right to the heart of the pro blem than skirt around the edges am forceful person but able to let everyone have their say My belief is that its time to put all the squabbles of the past in the past and look to tomorrow Would like to con tribute towards leaving our children as debt free as is humanly possible and leave Essa in better shape then ever also believe the present reeve has done good job but that some new blood and fresh ideas would be of help in an otherwise dull routine The promise make is that if its good for Essa and the peo ple of Essa then it warrants my support solicit your vote on Nov 13 for
