fly from Calgary for nurses reunion Ruth Russell and Laura Graham of Calgary flew from there to be with the fellow graduates of the Royal Victoria Hospital School of Nursing They were two of about 80 who Saturday attended the nurses alumnae reunion at the Continental Inn Miss Russell graduate of St Andrews Hospital Mid land came to Barrie and to Royal Victoria Hospital in 1926 She moved to Calgary in 1949 She is still working as private duty nurse there She is an associate member of the alum nae Miss Graham born in Shanty Bay graduated from RVH in 1925 She was member of Col her Street United Church She has three neices Mrs Doug Pickering and Mrs Garfiled Burton and Mrs Carl Gilchrist of Oro Station Miss Graham also moved to Calgary in 1949 Peg Brooks and Jackie Pinder were coconveners Doris Gavin handled publicity Carol Hand president Lois McCloskey vicepresident and Pauline Bebb treasurer also assisted The classes of 1941 and 1961 celberated anniversades at the reunion Graduates attended from Toronto London Lakefield Midland Alliston Penetang Kirkland Lake and Oshawa The reunion of the alumnae which was formed in the early 19005 is held every two years 200 attend reception Thornton couple celebrated their 40th anniversary on Sun day Sept 12th at reception attended by more than 200 relatives and friends Torrance and Jean Black were married in Trinity Unity Church Sept 12 1936 They farmed south of Thornton for 36 years before moving to Thorn ton in October 1972 and it was at their farm home now the home of son Wallace and daughterinlaw Isabel that the reception was Wallace and lsabel Black entertained 28 relatives at their home Craft sales featured at October Gift Fair ilandmade crafts by mem bers of the Simcoe County Arts and Traits Association will be featured at Gift Fair Oct 10 and 11 at the cultural wing of the Simcoc County Museum Midhurst From 10 am to pm each day the fair will feature arts candles ceramics hooking and needlework jewelry metalwork leathercraft pot tery rope arts spinning weav ing toys dolls and boutiques There will also be craft books for sale The idea of Gift Fair stemo med from the successful Quilt and Rug Fair last year More than 7000 visitors attended The primary goal of SCACA has been to promote arts and crafts in Simcoe County to preserve the pioneer crafts and to encourage new forms of arts and crafts The emphasis has
