Coldwaters Harry Dale has been piloting airplanes and helicopters for many years He has spent great deal of time in the Arctic and the far north as well as wide varie ty of other areas in his work for Coldwaters roving helicopter pilot is home again after his latest assignment for the Cana dian government Mr Dale left on an exciting flight to the Arctic some 11 weeks ago and is now back in the village for while renewing acquaintenances and enjoying family life until the phone rings again In his latest flight Mr Dale took crew to Moonsonee on the first leg of an eventful journey Then they went east to Port Albany and Attawapiskat an Eskimo and Cree Indian set tlement on the west coast of James Bay Finishing their work in that area they turned eastward with the next stop at Fort George Nursing Home kicked off Ontario Nursing Home Weekend last Friday night with senior citizen banquet About 35 members of the Creemore senior citizens club joined the residents for an evening meal followed by singsong led by Roy and Jean Tipling Roy played the violin and Jean ac companied him on the piano Orr Machesney also took turn at the fiddle and great time was had by all Saturday and Sunday was Open House at the home and Saturday evening there was weiner roast for the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides who had con tributed to volunteer work They were joined by the residents and everyone agreed it was lot of fun Creemore Lions Club will be holding 10 mile walkathon on Saturday Oct for the Arena Fund There will be two starting points for this one at Creemore and one in New Lowell The Lions Club is hoping to raise $20000 for the Creemore Arena Fund through this and other activities Mrs Loraine Gallaugher head teller for the Toronto Dominion Bank in Creemore was stiicken ill at work and taken to Collingwood General and Marine Hospital by am bulance on Friday around noon She is still in Hispital but out of the intensive care unit recuperating from heart at tack Lets hope shes up and around again soon Minor hockey season here is getting all set to start again for another year Registration will be held this upcoming Saturday at the Creemore Curling Club There will be penalty imposed for anyone registering after Oct At meeting last week Creemore Council voted to ac cept the tender of Disher Farrand of Barrie for the pav ing of Wellington St Reid and Associates of Barrie is the engineering firm doing the local arana analysis and no work has been received from them to date This report will have to be sent in to the ministry of labor by October 15 1976 and on the basis Of to be seen in the north although Mr Dale reports they are still used by overnight hunting par ties He reports that the natives are well organized by the Department of Indian and Eskimo affairs are paid very well for the work they do and Indian and Eskimo carvings or other handicrafts cannot be purchased any cheaper at their spot or origin than they can be in local stores MAI SURVEYS The men Mr Dale pilots from one place to another are engaged in Canadian Hydro graphic surveys and are work ing on mapping nautical charts and checking depths Some of their work is done in samll boats and almost everything is done electronically and to fraction of centimeter reports Mr Dale Besdics being useful for the ships that bring supplies to the towns and villages of the far north the information may
