crewman pugmazwwIYFfi Bicycling is great sport By an HARPER Chayt An invitational bicycle tour will be coming to Barrie tomorrow The tour will leave Orangeville at to aiii and will arrive tit the Brroltdale lnn Barrie sanitation iii the afternoon IIom Parry of Freelioa Ont is the organiser and he was kind enough to invite me to ride in his tour There will be ap proximately 20 riders taking part This will be my first tour of the year had couple of boats With the flu in the spring that left me little weak and conse quently have not been riding my bicycle very much this some nier But feel that if ride reasonable pace can make the journey from Orangevillc to Barrie The tour is twoday tour with stop in Barrie overnight anti return to raiigeville on Sunday will try the first log of the trip iiiiti if feel alright will return to Oraiigevllle with the tour llicyclc tours are great way of viewing the country it is also very healthy pastime In most of the tours the riders judge their own speed some ride as though they were in race and others take their time and stop often for rests and retrcsliiiients But usually the riders are able to ride from 50 to 75 miles per day and still enjoy good party and dance at night Of course there is always the odd flat tire or bicycle breakdown on the road to take some of the joy out of riding But usually there is someone in car or truck to act as bicycle mechanic and helper if rider has trouble loiii larry is the same gentleman who organized the Preo lour last year which came to Barrie and stopped overnight at Molsons Park rode few legs of his tour last year tiiiti thoroughly enjoyed it Barrie seems to be one of Mr Parr favorite meeting places When he organized the l975 Preo our he held the first meeting at Home at the Brookdale Inn Then he stopped over night when mapping the route Our town was must as stopover for the riders in the Preo Tour and they must have ca joyct themselves in Barrie for Tom is bringing select group licrc for his invitational tour toiii larry is the recreational director for the Ontario Cycl ing Association and was the chief organizer of clc Canada Tti project which saw bicycle riders tour across anadii from Vancouver iii the Montreal Olympics Tom is very dedicated man on the Canadian bicycle iiig scene am sure that this tour utiiit be the last bicycle tour tti come to Barrie organized by Tom larry and those who know this very happygolucky guy will welcome him anti his friends again and again We hope that the weatherman will be good to us for when ii bicycle tour is arranged you ritie no
