tioninthe area Windy Haugh Farm has been around since 1936 which makes it one of the oldest English riding schools in Simcoe Coun ty For Dudley Oliver owner of Windy Haugh Farm riding is away oflife was taught to ride when was too young to even remember he says Oliver 68 offers riding in struction seven days week to approximately 60 students He instructs in all levels of ex perience from the beginner to the expert rider who is learning advanced jumping techniques His students range in age from seven to ages people dont like to speak of Oliver says Oliver 68 says hes noticed an increase in the interest in riding both competitively and as recreational outlet He considers riding sport anyone can enjoy Since you literally set your pace push this as being the greatest thing since it can be done to your own degree of physical fitness he said Windy llaugh Farm is just off the Shanty Bay Road just over mile from Barrie The farm is stretched over 75 acres which according to Oliver has an excellent cross country course some 19 jump gates fences and water jumps Oliver offers instruction to those who simply wish to learn the art of how to ride horse properly to those seriously thinking of entering com petitive jumping He says that quite substan tial number of his students are hoping some day that they will be in riding competitions Some do compete already Oliver says that the com petitive aspect of the sport has increased drastically with the interest in competitions and the attention given to equestrian events ut its not only sport for the younger set liver says hes noted an
