the ministry of the environment is chairman of the committee Kehoe told meeting of the political group the ministry of natural resources is absolute ly flabbergasted at the way the report is being handled In an interview following the meeting Kehoe said the min istry of natural resources has been aware and screaming about the problems in the lake for number of years but has received no more money or help to combat the problem LOSER T0 PROBLEM Kehoe said the ministry of natural resources is closer to the problems in the lakes because it has its offices and assessment units in this area Kehoe said Trewin has with the exception of natural resources people surrounded himself with the wrong person nel Trewin has turned to plan ners for assistance when he should be dealing with scien tists such biologists and bacteriologists Kehoe said He said the provincial cabinet was sincere when it set up the conference and that the conference is committed to ac tion not just preparing reports Kehoe sentiments were shared by other members of the committee Howard Shillington chair man of the political committee said Trewin appeared to be leaving out more than he was puttinginthe reports George Richardson chairlt man of the South Lake Simcoe Conservation Authority said the ministry of natural resources has much more iii formation than appeared in the two reports The ministry of the environment is the weakest link he said Howard Campbell reeve of Oro Township said the politi cians should know where the pollution is taking place even if itsgoingtohurt Blake Constable deputy reeve of Imiisfil Township said thorny report would force people to take look at what theyre doing He added that he did not feel there was sufficient input from the ministry of agriculture in the two reports or that the technical committee had given enough consideration to popula tion projections TEST ALL AREAS Al MacLean deputyreeve of 0m Township suggested the ministry should test areas all around the lake to determine where the pollution is occu1r iiig Keith Rynard of Durham said the technical committee must know where the pollution is coming from and should inform the politicalcommittee Stan Rickard of Brock Township asked if other members of the committee felt it should ask for new technical chairman The committee did not but agreed that Shillington should
