NEWS ROUNDUP Record spending plans tabled in Commons today OTTAWA Pi Plans for record government spending for the coming fiscal year probably totalling about $46 billion were to be tabled in the Commons today The largestever outlay by the government comes only few months after AuditorGeneral Macdoiiell chastised federal financial managers for losing or coming close to los ing control over spending Last week treasury officials said the proposed spending for the 197778 fiscal year which begins April would rise about 11 percent over thefigures for last year In the current financial year the government has estimated it will spend $4212 billion This includes main spending estimates of $3955 billion last year plus three later supplementary estimates To be directly comparable todays
