concert seriesonJuly4 Singer Ella Fitzgerald will perform July 11 followed by Sylvia Tyson on July 18 Sylvia who sang at Barrie concert recently is best known in Orillia for her singing at the Mariposa musical festival held in this area where she made standout hit few years ago She also sang at St Pauls United church during that visit Gordon Lightfoot started his singing career as small boy with St James Anglican church choir here Later he went to Los Angeles where he first rose to fame Through the years Gordon has been frequent visitor to Orillia where his mother lives and he sang at various local concerts to help the arena fund and other local benefits Mr Lightfoot also appeared at Alliston where he sang at the Banting Memorial High School and on other programs at dif ferent county centres Needle course at Hillsdale HILLSDALE The Ontario ministry of agriculture and food is sponsoring needlepoint course at Medonte West Central School with Mrs Williams the leader Some 20
