Conserving peak use of energy is asked at Goldwater village By SHIRLEY JENNETT CULDWAlER An appeal to Coldwater residents to help conserve energy during peak demand periods was made by reeve Earl Brandon when discussing village hydro billing accounts at meeting of Cold water council The reeve explained that the energy charge for the village is lower than the demand charge which is calculated at peak periods such as from 430 to pm He stated that residents can help keep billings down by exercising prudent use of hydro at this time It was learned that one job the men hired under the LIP Grant are doing is priming the 6500 pines planted at the reser voir in 1965 and making right of way from the large reservoir to the Evoy property where it is hoped that in future dam may be constructed With the water there being fed by gravity to the larger reservoir STREETLIGIITS Following question as to the irregularity of operation of street lights in the Main Street area by Lorraine Orr Hydro Supervisor Art Hamilton replied that many problems have been surfacing with the old lighting system which had been installed at the time of village incorporation in 1908 The job of installing the new Street lights was progressing slowly because of problems with the old wiring and con nections One street light took four hours to install it was stated Twenty new lights are now in operation The new lights Will be four times brighter than the old ones on the main street and those on other streets will be times brighter than the previous lighting The new lights cannot be broken by snowballs or stones either thus producing savrng in main tenance costs Mrs Urr also questioned the possibility of having an agenda of council business to be dealt with posted prior to the meetings and the reeve replied that most of the agenda is prepared well in advance of meetings and can be seen by anyone interested at the Clerks office letter was received from the Georgian Bay Riders Club
