to make brief review of its history Old records show the first meeting was held in Toronto on February 1842 when Jacob Aemilius was named the first of 118 wardens who have presided over county council From 1843 until 1973 the county council met in Barrie then known as the county town When the present ad ministrative building here in Midhurst was under construc tion the county council held regular meetings at Angus Bradford and Wildwood Inn at Sparrow Lake in 1973 The county complex here was opened by John White then provincial treasurer in November 1973 with James Wales of Tosorontio presiding
