lying in Prince Edward Island waters waiting to be harvested says the provincial fisheries depart ment In survey of 11 different lo cations last summer the de partment says enumerators de termined the clam population as part of program designed to develop and manage an ef fective softshell clam fishery The survey was joint effort of the department and the fed eral fisheries and marine serv ice The department also says in its latest newsletter The Light house that large mechanical clam harvester is being tested in PET waters The device is handoperated and consists of gasengine pump and suction
