and long time resident of Barrie filed nomination papers Monday for seat on the Simcoe County Roman Catholic Separate School Board Mr Saunders is one of the two incumbents seeking the three seats to be elected from the Barrie area He has served on the separate school board since its inception in 1969 and was the first chairlt man He was chairman of the budget committee in 1976 and has again been appointed to the budget committee for 1977 He has served on several other committees usually as chair man have attended every meeting missing perhaps three meetings in six years Mr Saunders said of his record The first four years were spent trying to bring equality into every school across Simcoe County both in standard of education and in the buildings It became clear in 1974 that costs were becoming major factor in the operation of schools One must always remember the more we spend the higher our taxes With this in mind the budget committee ROSS SAUNDERS spent many hours reviewing our costs Mr Saunders said the com mittee did well in keeping costs down ur taxes in Barrie for school purposes rose less than one mill he said Objections dropped to arena purchase Objections by the ratepayers association in Wasaga Beach to the purchase of the Wasaga Stars arena by the town have been drop following accep tance by arena owners of lower purchase price Bruce Arnold candidate for
