things and all 16 par ticipants in the Twin Lakes Motor Clubs TLMC gravel pit Panic slalom enjoyed rousing after noon of racing cars against the clockand nature The location was the Me Colgan sand and gravel pit at Midhurst and TLMC members took first place in three of the five classes of themeet The wideopen fast course covered 14 miles of varying conditions incluing hardpacked and loose gravel and several areas of loose sand which became real obstacles as car after car churned through them These ground conditions took fairly heavy toll as the day wore on with two of the Austin Minis competing becoming bogged down in the loose sand during the first run and four entries unable to start their last run due to mechanical dif ficulties Despite veering into some bushes early on the course Brian Scott of Mississauga in his Mini Cooper rebounded to win the BI class with time of two minutes iii seconds While the T5 class was taken by ILM member Noel Montgomery of Torr onto in an Austin Mini with the fastest time of the dayua sizzling one minute 548 seconds Dennis Wharton of Bar rie drove his Datsun 510 to win in the class with the fast time of one minute 588 seconds In the closest contest of the day Ioiin Wilson of New Lowell whip ped his Sunbeam Imp round the course in two minutes 84 seconds to cap Clifton Hotel blanks Starr Electric 80 Clifton Hotel emerged easy winners over Starr Electric in Mens Recreational Fastball League play Sunday at Mac Morrison Park Gary Walker was the winning pitcher holding Starr to four hits over nine innings Beachesne took the loss with Clifton collecting 10 hits Bob Donson Rick Jermey and Tom Tustin had two hits each for Clifton with John Shanks Bob Flemming Dory Cox Paul Hayes adding single blows Big inning for Clifton Wins lacrosse tourney About 160 boys and girls and 150 or so parents con verged on Eastview arena Saturday for the daylong se cond annual novice tourna ment of the Barrie Minor Lacrosse Association Orillia defeated Huntsville in the final game of the day to take the championship In the consolation game Ajax edged Barrie in cliff hanger of game which went into overtime and ended in score of 98 for the visitors Probably the most exciting game of the tournament for Barrie and Ajax parents anyway was the consolation championship game between the two centres Time and again Barrie took the lead to have it stolen by Ajax and viceversa The home team went into the se cond period leading 53 At the start of the third it was Ajax seven Barrie six In the third Ajax scored again and Barrie added two more to make the score 88 at the close of regular play After repeated attacks on goal in overtime play in which bad luck played hand disappointed Barrie side groaned when Ajax net ted the winner
