CANADIAN PRESS Damp weather has helped ease the battle against forest fires in northwestern Ontario and today some firefighters will leave the area where about 435000 acres680 square miles have been destroyed officials for the Ontario ministry of natural resources said More rain was expected today in parts of the nor thwestern area where two of the larger forest fires that began three weeks ago about 130 miles southeast 0f Kenora were brought under control during the weekend Wayne Mutton information officer with the ministry in Dryden said 48400acre called Ignace was under con trol and 50400acre fire called Ignace 19 was on its last legs Mr Mutton said about 50 fire crew members began to leave the area Sunday and about 250 firefighters from Alberta will start to leave today Harold Redding fire oper ation manager for the ministry said that in our analysis the back of the current fire danger cycle has been broken EXPECTS MOISTURE Firefighters remaining to ex tinguish the fires
