There By RAY WALDOC First Baptist Church Barrie and District Ministerial Have you seen the news lately The kind of disaster confronting us seems to specialize in earthquakes First Guatemala then Italy then Russia and where next Most of us are deeply concerned about this kind of disaster We are glad to hear that our govern ment is taking immediate and decisive action We are glad to see various volunteer agencies collect money and goods and send them to these areas of real human need When we have COLLIER STREET UNITED CHURCH WORLD TRAGEDY BAD ENOUGH been called upon to help many of us have done our little bit No matter what we do it seems awfully little doesnt it Have you ever asked yourself what is motivating you in situation like this If you an swer that the suffering of fellow human beings is your motivation then you are probably troubled that the little that you do is not really suf ficient response to the ap mlling need If you answer that the love of Christ is your motivation then you are probably equally embarrassed The few do iars that you have given and the few prayers you have of fered seem really too little to claim to be motivated by the love of Christ Perhaps you felt guilty and the little bit you gave is really an attempt to salve your con science and to wipe out cover or at least to quieten down your guilt It seems to me that these disasters point out an even geater disaster the disaster of Christian community claiming to be motivated by the love of Christ and yet doing so little to prove it The paltriness SIMCOE COUNTY NEWS IVY By JEAN JENNETT Ivy
