members who died after he allegedly refused to remove his dog from lifeboat to make room for them The jury cleared Cyril LaBrec ue of manslaughter and neg igence charges after deliberating more than five hours LeBrecque 52 of Santa Ana Calif was charged in the deaths of Bradford Blakely 20 and Paul Sagarino 19 both of Wether sfield Conn The two were crew mem bers for LaBrecque when his schooner Sadie and Edgar sank off Atlantic City the night of Jan 28 1974 They slipped to their deaths after clinging to the side of the lifeboat for 10 hours in six degree water LaBrecque was accused of refusing to remove his Labrador retriever from the lifeboat to make room for the two crew members Bruce Goldstein assistant US attorney said in his summation the evidence was overwhelming that LaBrecques schooner was unseaworthy when he set out for Florida in January seas GAMBLED WITH LIVES He was willing to gamble the lives of everyone on that vessel that there would be good weatherand he
