IOThe Barrie Examiner Friday Ma I976 North athletes continue to Win in local regional track meets By BONNIE and BRENDA SCOTT Hi Well it sure has been long time since you heard from us last but heres some chit chat for this week First of all the long weekend we had recently had many high school guys out together forming our Barrie Select rugger team The Barrie Select squad played and defeated Yorks team and then went on to play visiting team from England It was fine game indeed but unfortunately the Selects lost but not by much Five of our guys here at North were members of the Barrie Selects and con gratulations to you and the rest as Barries squad had been the toughest competi tion the English team had Ind on tour to that point As to our own schools rug ger teams the senior squad is doing pretty good with tie in competition with Eastview and nice win over Central The juniors have one loss and one win to date and the midgets went down in defeat to Central this week Un fortunately this game can claim its victims as you can see by the guys on crutches the next day But some are more serious and so to Chuck Williamson who is presently in hospital care we hope you get well quick and your friends miss you in Chemistry In the track and field area this year it couldnt be bet ter North has one of the strongest and largest teams it has ever had Our team has already completed in two meets this year which isnt bad considering they were so early in the season The first meet was on April mth at Estview between the Barrie high schools North showed them our strong team as they came out in first place in the meet But at Kingston on the 24th was where it real ly showed Competing against 48 other schools and total of about 3400 athletes the North track and field team collected an amazing 108 points and placed them in very respec table 4th position The boys team and girls team con tributed equally to the int total Many members our team turned in fine er
