59 ST PAULS By DORIS PRATT Due to icy roads the Paul ettes ACW meeting was post poned until Thursday March 11 pm at Mrs Paul Lists home Painswick CORRECTION reported at tending the Alderson funeral was Brenda Davis Toronto who is Mrs Bruce Graham and now lives on the 12th line Mr and Mrs Douglas Fralick have returned home gt from an enjoyable motor trip to Tampa Florida The local Girl Guides and Br ownies are out in full force taking orders for their cookies The cookies and their annual tea and bazaar are their onay means of raising funds The Shrove Tuesday Pancake supper was held in St Pauls Anglican Church with very good attendance The men cooked and served the pan cakes and sausage which everyone enjoyed Then Rev Walter Lee cut the 125th Anniversary cake served with ice cream Mrs Harry Magee of Sandy Cove Acres entertained at the piano while the tables were cleared Mrs Harry Holdcroft led in sing song The afternoon ACW ladies put on no skit play The Paulettes staged the Old Limp Hicks of the 1940 era Mrs Bessie Crane was the runner with the eternal torch that kept going out Even her bic wouldnt flick to light the flame Mrs Bess Morgan was very convincing weighlifter with su preme strength Mrs Evelyn Weatherill did an amazing broadjump Mrs Sherry Stunden literally swam her way to the stage complete with flippers and rubber duckie life saver Mrs Joan Fralick defied everyone with her karate chops Mrs Gwen Srigley roller skated with the benefit of cushion in the rear Mrs Norah Fellows pole vaulted her way up narrowly missing the audience with her pole Mrs Jenny Srigley was the basketball player expert with no basket to aim at Mrs Doris Pratt was the mad Russian shotput star narrowly missing Rev Lee with her throw Mrs Sally Randell was our long distance runner in borrow ed shorts donated or were they stolen from Rev Lee Mrs Hazel Holdcroft was very convincing but punchy prize fighter The finale was Mrs Penny List Miss Old Limp Hicks 1940 who presented the medals to all who par ticipated Oh yes Mrs List has given up outdoor sports for in door sports Mrs Joan Richardson was the very capable commentator in rhymes Mrs Nancy Stunden the stage hand was real professional Mrs Evelyn Feder helped Nancy Ward Parsons entertained on his guitar and led lively sing song Two commercials were hammed up The grand finale was Mrs Hazel Holdcroft in her role as Tiny Tim rendering two numbers All in all it was night to remember Rev Lee gave the parting prayer and all departed for home The Lenten services are held all through Lent in St Pauls Anglican Church on every We dnesday at8 pm followed by discussion and cup of tea Shirley Kell spent the week end with her grandmother Mrs John Kell GUTHRIE By MRS CAMERON On Friday March the World Day of Prayer Service was held in Guthrie United Church at pm with Mrs John Wendy Kirk as guest sp eaker on the theme Education for all of life Mrs James Eunice Mercer of Mitchell Square was guest soloist using the complete song Theres World Out There by Darrell Faires The chorus only was printed on the order of service for all to sing Representation was from Central Oro Oro Station and Guthrie Presbyterian WMS groups as well as St Thomas ACW of Shanty Bay and Guthrie UCW with also two gentlemen making total of 25 persons in attendance Mrs Ivan Maidie Clark led the service with the assistance of some 10 others Mr and Mrs Bert Jamieson have returned from vacation in Florida They visited In sley at learwater while there number of other residents are away on bus tours to the south Mr and Mrs Charles Sander son and Mr and Mrs Cam eron returned home Friday from two week bus tour to the usual attractions in Florida as well as tours of St Augustine Fla and Savanah Georgia KEYS
