true The majority of civilian work ers in Camp Borden live in the larger centres such as Barrio ltlliston and Stayner but the intervening country is well re presented However other em ployees travel work to Borden along the Alliston or Lisle roads seldom becomes complicated unless winter weather makes driving difficult However the road race along Highway 90 every day is as hazardous as any race track The paved sur face ls uneven in many places and the shoulders and ditches along the road are too narrow and too deep What may start off as minor accident may develop into serious accident within seconds as testmoving traffic piles up fire winter months are the most dangerous and traffic tigups two or three miles in lenflh are no tlnLU mon There have been many fateful and serious accident on this highway but fortunately they have not occurred during the rush hours Incl that must be attributed to the good sense of the Bordonbound driver ONE OF WORST One at the worst tieups of traffic occurred several years ago but it was not caused by an accident Cars were extend ed fromthe north barrier to Es as Station distance oi about six miles The day before po lice officer had been shot in To ronto by the Boyd gang and ru mor was that they were going to hideout in Borden As eacht car reached the barrier it was stopped and completely search ed Some of the employees were an hour late tor work that day it Is planned to resurface and probably reroute some of High way 90 this year and this should be welcome news to all car drivers This road was ori giually paved in the summer of ms The pavement was set on very unstable base and this is why the road heavrs like waves every spring Probably only few know as they speed over No 90 to work every day that part of this highway is the old Sunnidalo Road settlement road opened through the bush about 125 years ago Today the journey is only matter of minutes then with plodding oxen or heavy horses from Barrie to where Bordon stands today
